Our Featured Speaker is Ms. Natalie Alexich: Homestead & Beyond
The “Homestead Temporary Shelter for Unaccompanied Children” in Homestead, FL (30 miles inland from Miami) became a lightning rod issue for the Trump Administration when it became known that migrant children from Central America were being housed there after being forcibly separated from family members at the southern US border by agents of Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Border Patrol. The horrendous conditions from the Texas “Camps” (Tornillo, Flint etc.) had come home to Florida. This is a story of ‘Homestead’ from the “Witness” perspective: on-site observations, stories, pictures, videos and more, from one of the darkest periods of American History, a time that continues to reinvent itself today.
